A _long_ time ago I saw a pic of Crockett & Tubbs, complete with
fashion-plate outfits, firearms and fast car, but as mice. Does anyone have
any idea where I could find something similar now?

There are two possible answers....

Most likely, you are thinking of Hamster Vice, a product from the b&w
boom when riffs on TMNT (Marvel even took a bite at that apple with
Power Pachyderms) and funny animals in general (Usagi Yojimbo, Boris
The Bear, Thunder Bunny, etc.) were everywhere. It's existence pretty
much dovetails with Miami Vice. The last issue was sent out for
review around the time the series finale ran, and when the movie was
made a year or two ago, a special issue was prepared to ride the
publicity wave.

The other possibility, although highly unlikely, is the "Vice Mice"
that appeared in Marvel's Heathcliff comic book. I think they
appeared in three stories total, with Heathcliff providing size and
muscle that they didn't have. They rode around in a small red car,
but big enough for Heathcliff to sit on the back seat/trunk area as
they traveled.

Needless to say, both of them are pretty much history.

Yes. You neglected the most obvious, though. There was a Miami Mice
comic drawn by Mark Bodé, Publisher Rip Off Press. Three Issues IIRC.

http://www.undergroundcollectibles.com/index.cfm/fa/categories.main/parentcat/10297/endrw/12

shows two covers. See also http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/Mark_Bod%C3%A9

and Bodé himself has some MM stuff on
http://www.markbode.com/site/update1200/artworkgalleryone.html

There's also http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Miami_Mice of course.

Oof. And I call myself a fan of underground comics. I bow to your
superior wisdom.
